PC Light Experience

Hi,
I'm thinking of upgrading the lighting on my 55 gallon to PC's. Has anyone ever used the Coralife Aqualight brand PC Strip light? It has 2 x 65W output with 50/50 bulbs. I haven't been able to find many reviews of these lights online and was wondering if anyone on the board had any experience with them. Thanks!

Hi,
I checked out the link, but I'm really looking more for just a thin strip light I can put on a glass hood and not have to move or turn off to get into the tank for maintanence and feeding. I saw that the 130W coralife aqualight was only 5 inches wide so it will fit like I want it to, but was wondering if it was any good. Anyone use this light?

A friend of mine has 2 coralife lights over his 120gal. tank, and loves them.
I have never used the coralife lights, but have many good things about them. Coralife also makes quailty bulbs.

i just ordered the aqualight from coralife 2x65w for my 55, should be here in a few days, i'll post on them after i get them set up.

That would be great. I'd really be interested in hearing how yours works out. We have almost the same setup (55 gallon, emporer 400, seaclone 100, 50#'s liverock), so I'd be very curious to see how it goes. Are you getting the light with the leg kit or are you just sitting it on top of the hood?

i'm gonna get the legs with it. you? i've got to decide before it gets here if i want to go "topless" or have glass under the light. what are you planning to do? anyone elses suggestions? topless or not?

I'm not sure about the legs. I was thinking of going with the top, and placing the light right on the hood. One thing I worry about with the legs is whether or not I'm going to be blinded by the light that comes out between the tank and the lights when I'm looking at the tank. Although, I hear they do good for heat dissipation.

What made you guys decide on the coralife? I am having a dificult time deciding on lighting myself. I want to be able to house afew soft corals in the future. Would a 2-96 be enough light in a 45 gallon. I tell you what, this hooby is getting expensive, but I DON'T care. Tax returns are coming soon.

Stcardoza: I just bought a coralife 36" fixture with (2) 65watt pc's. I got that at a good price at hellolights .com . It has built in fans. I just rest mine on top of my glass top. I bought legs for em but I doubt I'll use em. That way the lights are a couple inches closer to the water.

i have the coralife 36" 96 watt smartlight thingy, and it works great. at some point i will probably buy a dual 96 setup for ahsupply and build my own canopy and mount 3 of the 96 watt strips, gutting my coralife that i have now to do so, but that is further down the line... 2- 175 watt mh and 3 96 watt pc should give me all the sps light ill ever need in an approximately 60 gallon 36" long tank.
If you were to ask for a recommendation, i would say you could buy coralife with confidence. i can not speak for hellolights or ahsupply however.

I have 4 -96 watt 2 blue attnic and 2 white with ballasts for sale reflector everything you need ....let me know I am asking $225 for them all. Chris

I use the coralife light strip and its really good, I have the 4*65 that I had setted up over my aquarium and bought them for $210

monchichi8, does your system have a canopy or is it just the components? How old are the bulbs?

the bulbs are 7 months old and I do have a canopy where the Pc's are attached too....They are a complete set...everything you need for a super bright tank
