Does anyone know the average lifespan of an average power compact light bulb?
The one I have in particular is a 65 watt, 22 inch 50/50 power compact light.

I wouldnt mind knowing the life of a HQI, double-ended 10k metal hallide too please.
edit- a ballpark price would be good as well.

There are a couple of "lifespan" issues...the functional spectrum for the tank versus how long it actually burns. Unfortunately, they will burn a heck of a lot longer than their functional life for a tank. Most bulbs are recommended, I believe, to be changed once a year...at least Normal output and PCs :)

Interesting.
Thanks for the tip. I think maybe the light's function fading is why my corals don't look so healthy anymore.
Gotta go buy some more now.

I think pc's are about 6 months of good use, after which, they really go red on ya. I'll let ya know on the hqi. mine has only been going for about 2 months
