pc's on a planted freshwater

While I was stuck in bed today, I realized I have an unused 30 long tank that I am thinking of setting up as a freshwater planted with tetras an maybe a rare pleco(hoping for a queen tiger). I have an old set of power compacts that I am hoping I can use for lighting. I've never kept a planted freshwater but I am figuring they need some sort of special lighting and figured pc's would suffice. I am unable to leave the house for a while, so I can not make to the LFS and as them. So I am asking for ya'lls expertise.
Thanks,
Jordan

pc's would be good with the right spectrum bulb 67k or so, you want a decent amount of red end for FW planted tanks, where with reefs we steer clear of that. also it TOTALY depends on the plants you want, Honestly IMO plantsa are like fish they all have their own requirements. research FW plants you'll get dizzy at first.

I have a heavily planted freshwater aquarium and power compacts work just fine. Just make sure you are using yellow/red (6700) or full spectrum (10,000) new bulbs. Old bulbs are no good and plants can't use actinic light.
