Peaceful Porcupine?

I am planning on buying a 77gal. long tank later this week for a FOWLR setup. Looking ahead, I am trying to find a good fish for a so called 'centerpiece'.
Tangs seem to need bigger than a 77, angels (with the exception of dwarf) seem to need even larger tanks and trigger fish are far to vicious for what I am planning on being a peaceful community.
Now to the point: I know porcupine puffers are fairly aggressive fish but I have read (and heard) that they will only really pick at fish which are 'small'. Now, I wouldn't plan on getting the porky right away so if I were able to get his tankmates to an appropriate size first, would I be able to get a small one in the distant future? If so, what would an acceptable size be for his tankmates before he stops seeing them as lunch?
Thank you very much for your advice :)

My porky doesn't pick on anyone else either. Although, I had a pinktail trigger which picked on him.
I've had hermits, shrimp, and brittlestars in the same tank and he doesn't even look at them.
I just purchased a 3" Naso tang which my 5" porky also ignores.

No, I've had him quite awhile. I actually got rid of my pinktail trigger because he was so obnoxious.

i've had proks and burr fish, none of them have ever cause any problems. i would say they are my favorite fish type. great personality, they are alwasy looking outside the tank and following what is going on

I have a porky and he is great!
No problems except in the local feeding frenzy. I always make sure he eats at one end of the tank and everyone else eats at the other. He follows me every day to the same spot to eat. They have great personalities, wonderful fish. <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />
