Pearlscale Butterfly

I'm thinking of buying a Pearlscale Butterfly. I would really appreciate any opinions or experiences available. Especially feeding habits & what best food to give the Pearlscale butterfly.
I have a Tri-Color Anthias, Mild tempered Sailfin Tang & a falco Hawkfish. I'm sure I'm going to add a yellow watchman goby also.
Anyone have an opinion on how the hawkfish & the watchman goby might get along.
55g tank

Just be careful with butterflies and corals if you have them.

I've read this, Question is, what kind of corals are subject to digestion.....
besides feather dusters & clams.

Actually one of my co-workers was telling me today of a Sailfin Tang and a Pearlscale he bought this weekend. Impulse buys. The butterfly has been eating his "moon coral" (I have no idea what a moon coral is). But he says it has not touched the palys or shrooms .....yet.
I know in MY OWN EXPERIENCE that most butterflies will also eat the polyps off of SPS. Exception being Copperbands.

You could very well have problems with the sailfin. While mild mannered now, there are no other fish that it perceives as a threat/competitor. TRhe butterfly will be a similar shaped fish and as with most zebrasoma tangs, the sailfin is likely too act aggressively. Not sure how large the tang is but a 55 is not suited to this type of fish long term.
In terms of feeding, pearlscales I've kept will eat pretty much anything. Give it a lot of meaty foods to include mysis, chopped scallop, mussell, clam, Marine Cuisine, Emerald Entree, etc. Pellets are good, occassional flake, and greens like nori. They're a relatively hardy fish as butterflies go but won't do very well with aggressive mates. Hopefully your tank is well established and has a lot of live rock for shelter and grazing. Butterflies do best in systems like this.

I agree with the concerns of the sailfin tang. The sailfin is still for the most part small & comfortable in the 55g tank.
I'm thinking after QT time period of butterfly & goby. I will add a divider separating the Butterfly & Watchman gody from sailfin & falco hawkfish. This way the butterfly can become acclimated in peace & the watchman can dig a hole & become comfortable in his new environment.
After 4 or 5 days remove divider & watch sailfin & butterfly.
If sailfin harasses butterfly, I'll remove sailfin & put in QT for a week. Rearrange Lr to a degree, then add sailfin back in DT.
If that doesn't work, I'll pull sailfin from tank & sell him at local fish store. Buy another sailfin much smaller then butterfly.
I don't have any problem selling the sailfin because i accepted the responsibility of selling the tang when it outgrew the tank.
More opinions about housing a Pearlscale would be appreciated....

Will this stock list be fine with each other? :1 Snowflake Eel, 1 Red Spotted Hawkfish, 1 Valentini Puffer, 1 Pearlscale Butterfly fish, and 1 Maroon clownfish

I think most you listed are bold in nature, except maybe the puffer. Which depends on the individual puffer, some are moderate to bold.
I think the Pearlscale is like a Copperband. If harassed or feels intimidated they tend to stop eating. You might be taking a big chance with a Pearlscale in your tank.

I bought a Peralscale about a month ago. Before I added it, I had a Sailfin Tang, 2 oscellaris clowns and and purple psuedo.
When I first added the pearlscale it was very timid and the sailfin was not very happy and would chase the pearlscale all over the place. And food?? The sail fin wouldn't allow it to eat. The pearlscale basically hid for about a week.
After about two weeks the pearlscale was getting alot more brave and going back after the sailfin. Now they get along just great!! The pearlscale eats everything I put in the tank!! Flake, pellet, brine, mysis, clam, formula two, etc.
It is also a great looking fish!! I don't know if it will have problem with corals, since I have a 55G FOWLR.

Maybe some type of dwarf Angel, something like a Bi-color Angel fish. They can handle a 55g & have lots of color & moderately tempered.

Good info, thank you. Its nice to see a timid fish stand up for itself for survival. Instead of rolling over and dieing.

Yeah the butterfly has gotten very brace!!! That and my purple psuedo have been having some disagreements lately and the butterfly will stick the spines up onto of its head and defend herself with those spines!! Its quite interesting to watch!!
