Pentair Aquatics Lifegard Advanced Filtration Kit ?

Has anyone used any of the Pentair Aquatics In-Line filters? I was thinking of getting the 'Pentair Aquatics Lifegard Advanced Filtration Kit'. Does anyone know of any good/bad with this product?

I have a wet/dry just looking for some mechanical filtration though.

Well, by the lack of responces by people who have used these I am going to be the Guinea Pig here and try it! I have searched the net and only see a few reviews, one said it plugs up quickly, but to me that all depends on how much floating debris is in the tank. The other said that it works 'fine'. I will post my results, if I dont like it it can always go back

I had one of those on my first tank... It was before they were sold to the present Pentair people and the pump was different.

Did you ever set up the Pentair system?
I did purchase and set up the system....however.... I did encounter some problems. The Quiet One pump that was shipped with the system was anything but quiet, it was VERY loud (rattle noise) and the pump itself got very hot, in turn making my water hot. I contacted the company, they gave me trouble shooting tips, dissasembled the pumped, everything seemed to check out, put it back together, still was not better. They shipped me a new pump, installed it, still had a noise and hot water problem. The second pump was just a little quieter, not much. I tried to run the system without the filter and no matter what happened the pumps were just horrible. I had my 'old' Eheim pump, so after a trip to the local hardware store to get some fittings and raising the filter to match the pump height everything was hooked up. Plugged it in and it was silent!
I did not use their intake/return hardware/tubes as I already had stuff in place. The tubing they provide, in my opinion, is horrible, the wall thickness is close to that of a grocery shopping bag!
It does filter the water, but you really do have to stay on top of changing the pleat out as it does build up fast. I actually have run in without the pleat lately as to just catch the larger particles.
If you are going to do it I would say buy the filter alone, NOT the kit, get a good pump and make modifications and connections as needed. I have a feeling I will end up unhooking this from my system in less than a year.
