Will pepermint shrimp eat zoos? I have an aiptasia mixed in with one of my zoo frags and was thinking about getting a few shrimp in case others start popping up. Had one aiptasia a few weeks ago that destoryed a small zoo colony. so I took it out of the tank...proplem solved. But this colony still looks good. Thanks

We are dealing with living animals, so anything is possible, but generally no, they won't mess with zoos.
Just make sure the vendor you purchase from sells you Peppermint Shrimp and not Camelback Shrimp. Do research and learn to recognize one from the other as many LFS people can't.

Thank you SCSInet...I've got an aiptasia question. Do they behave similar to zoos in that they retract when the lights are off?

Not that I've seen, but honestly they may, it's been a while since I've observed them at night since I eradicated them from my system a long time ago.
It's hard to remember...

I have one that eats my green palys. It only eats the skirts for some reason. They haven't touched my zoas yet or my hawk is going to have some shrimp eating company.

How did you get rid of them? Right now I only see one so I don't have a major problem, but I don't want it to grow into one.

I used peppermint shrimp, but I had them all over.
If all you have is one, then I'd suggest pulling the rock out and using an eyedropper to drip a drop of kalkwasser directly on it, then just return it to the tank. It should be dead as soon as the kalk hits it. You can do this underwater as well but if it's among a colony of zoos you risk harming them.

I don't need to inject the aip with the kalk...1 drop on it is enough?

Injecting it would probably work even better... you're right. Plus if you have a needle to do it you can do it underwater without harming your other zoos.
