peppermint shrimp and button polyps

i recently purchased a nice grouping of button polyps. to my surprise, one of my peppermint shrimp almost immediately began to pick at the button polyps. i have three of these shrimps, and they have never shown any interest in corals until now. all the information on them (including informations disseminated by this site) indicates that peppermint shrimp are harmless to corals. is this true or not? has anyone ever had this problem?

Are you sure they are peppermints and not camelbacks? Some LFSs sell the two interchangably. Camelbacks have been know to attack polyps and other corals. True peppermints usually don't but some times individuals take a liking to polyps.
If they truly are peppermints, try feeding them directly a couple times a week I have heard this can curb the appetite.
