Peppermint shrimp eatting clams?

Today I decided to buy some clams at the supermarket and add them as part of my cleaner crew. I placed them in tank water and waited for them to wake up. Anyways I have put one of the six I got in my tank after he spit and almost immediately my peppermint shrimp started to climb all over it and looked to be cleaning all around the mouth. I hope he isn't trying to kill the clam but it sure looks like he wants to eat him but I hope he is just cleaning food from the shell. Does anyone know if peppermint shrimp normally go after live clams?

I just realized that the way I wrote the title it looks like I am talking about clams that eat peppermint shrimp... but I mean shrimp that is trying to eat the clam

Well I know my clams aren't dead yet, I actually put 4 in, the last two I got didn't show signs of life so I didn't add them. The peppermint shrimp checked out everyone of the clams but after they snapped shut a few times he went away. I also added some algae pellets to keep my shrimp and hermits busy. My peppermint shrimp hasn't bothered anything else in my tank but he and his family(I HAD 5 total, but only 1 left) did clean up my aiptisa problem awhile ago. On the topic of clams, I have heard they bury themselves in the sand but mine haven't done that, one filpped himself over and the rest just open slightly for awhile and then close up again. Am I suppose to set them in a certain way so that they can move or will they eventually move on their own?
Oh, oh oh, just to share something interesting, my I caught my peppermint shrimp trying to clean one of my fish the other day, he jumped on and hung from the bottom of the fish for a few seconds.. Just something cool to see since my cleaner shrimp died....
