peppermint shrimp with eggs

I believe i have a preg. peppermint shrimp. Seems like she is holding something under her tail. Is it ok to just leave her in the tank with everything. I assume most of the babies will just end up as fish food. Or should i take her out for some reason that I am not thinking of?

grats! i would put the shrimp in an established tank with lots of rock and as least fish as possible if you want them to live. but if your tank it's in has plenty of rock there may be some survivors.

Peppermint Shrimp are usually carrying eggs.
If you with to attempt to raise the larvae it's not really that straight forward. There is a fairlt good pamplet on raising Peppermint Shrimp if you're serious about the attempt. If left in the tank there will be no survivors.

I've had them spawn multiple times in 2 different tanks. There have never been survivors.
Last time, a few weeks ago, I heard a loud splash while my back was to the tank. It was my
Male lyretail anthias going nuts for the larvae

Thanks for the advise everyone. Is it worth the extra work to try to grow them out? Today I actually discovered another one that is holding. Considering we have had them for less than a week, I think if I did decide to try it I am going to have plenty of oppertunities. Otherwise its just good fish food right.

i heard it's difficult and time consuming......excellent fish food though.....every time they molt they will likely end up pregnant

I see how it works, throw on a new outfit and go out and get some. I think I will just let them stay in there, although it woudl be cool to raise them out, I dont think I am ready to try to reproduce. Just getting started with the salt thing.

yea, perpperments carry eggs. Thats awomse bro, just take care of them, i wanted my perpperments to do that, If you can maniage to get them through the first few stages you could make some good cash selling them. Id buy some! ahhaha

Would you just pull the shrimp when you see them holding and then put them back in the tank as soon as she lets them go? I could always put here in my QT tanks, since there isnt anything in there but rock and sand.
