Hi guys! I have a few aptaisia in my tank, and have heard that peppermint shrimp will eat them. Are there any problems with having peppermint shrimp? I have mainly corals in my tank, but I do have 2 mandarin gobies, a jawfish, a zebra tang, and some chromeses. I see about a half a dozen or more of the aptaisia in my tank, how many shrimp would I need in a 220 gal. tank to get rid of them? Is one sufficient? Thanks!:D

Sometimes they due but others have said that they havent gone after the aiptasia as a rule they should, they usually due their work at night. Havent had mine long because of a certain fish that is a shrimp hunter (purple chromis).

Peppermint shrimp are Omnivores. They may molest your larger LPS coral by stealing food out of their mouth, but that's probably all. They will eat sandbed critters when they are hungry. This includes worms and pods. Usually they are happy with scraps of fish food.
Only the Wurdemanni species will eat Aiptasia. None of the other three Peppermint species will.
For your tank I would recommend getting two. They will breed often and supply your corals and fish with very nutritious larvae.

Most will eat aiptasia and many will also eat yellow polyps, button polyps sea mat, and other zooanthids in addition to feather dusters. And some also steal food from polyps and LPS.
