I have always looked to Great Lakes Aquariums size charts for the tanks they build. There are some really interesting dimensions that are in the repertoire. All listed by lenghts first and some great shallow depths. Just to give you some ideas Seth if you are going to build your own some day.

My 30 gallon is 24" deep and I have to balance on a step stool to reach the bottom.

I've always used a 6' ladder to work on my tanks......24" is pretty normal, another way around it is alter the stand height.....

Their prices are pretty good for pick up. I wish they had a 6'L X 3'W tank though.

This is where I bought my tank. It was just their standard 125g. But they have some awesome sizes to choose from. The owner is a really nice guy.
