Hello everybody,
I currently have a 125 saltwater fowlr aquarium that just recently got done with its fishless cycle. I just added my first animal to tank, It is a stars and stripes pufferfish. He is rather large (around 8 inches in length). I am not planning on adding anything else to the aqaurium for atleast 2 months so there is not upset/disturbance in the water levels. Anyway down the road from now what suggestions do you guys/girls have for the perfect tankmate to go with My stars and stripes? Anything to small he will most likely eat, and anything to fast will most likely nip at him.. Input would be great! Would introducing an eel be out of the question for a tankmate or not?
Thank you everyone,
-Peter

I'd say add a choice Eel to the tank, and thats it. The S&S puffers get huge; and will excrete alot of waste in a tank that size; so not alot of tankmates would work.

A Niger Trigger or Huma Huma Trigggerfish would look nice in that tank. But triggers are messy and so are puffers so make sure you have good filtration and a good skimmer to keep your levels low or at zero.

Yeah I am keeping the water circulation very high, I have two maxi-jets running right now and plan on buying another. The return pump also produces alot of water movement at the surface. I have a skimmer but have not yet hooked it up because the tank is new. I will probably get it up and running in the next week. The last time I tried a combination of an eel and a puff the eel niped on the puffer. This was in a much smaller aquarium and the puffer was very tiny which I think is why this occured.

I have a foxface and a clown in with my porc puffer and they all get along great. I did have a yellow tang in with the puffer earlier and they swam around the tank together and even rested in the same spot at night. when the tang died, the puffer kept the hermits away from him.

i have a porcy puffer and a golden puffer in my 210, i stayed away from the trigger so i can keep a cleanup crew.
my puffers dont bother my crabs or fighting conches.
I did have a bursa trigger at 1 time but sold him back to the lfs cause he was going after my cleanup crew.
I am going to try mexican turbo snails next and see what happens.
