I have been monitering my tank for 9 months and have maintained what I thought was perfect..Apparently I was wrong ...so would someone be so kind to spec what is ideal parameters for fowlr....this may be a reality check for all involved.

Temp - 79 - 81
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0 (up to 20 is acceptable)
Salinity - 1.023 - 1.025
Calcium - 360 - 420
PH - 8.1 - 8.3
As a rule these are the ranges that you look to keep - they are subjective however - certain species may have more specific requirements for which you would have to adjust. HTH

That temp is based on the majority of fish kept in home aquariums today - there are exceptions however, as I said, such as species that are deep water or from more northern areas where the temps are cooler. Generally, most of the tropical fish thrive in these temps

Mine stays at 82 successfully. 82 has been the norm for our tanks for years.

I live in the south, so my temps run a bit high. I use fans to cool them off though.
Ideal ranges for FOWLR tanks are (in my experience) this:
Temp: 70 to 83 (but must remain constant)
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 0 to 30ppm
Nitrites 0
Phosphates 0
Calcium 320-400 (does not matter with fish)
Salinity- .019 to .021 (healthier for the fish)
pH:7.9 to 8.3 (will vary as to how much activity is in the tank)

Maybe we could narrow it down if you tell us what you were keeping, and why you think it's not ideal...
fish die? whole tank get wiped out? corals mad at you but fish are ok??
What's up doc?
cause we got phosphate levels to look at, oxygen levels, traces of copper, iodine, iron...
could be any number of things, heck I wouldn't even rule out flouride!!
We gotta know what went wrong.
