ph buffers???

i need a buffer for my tank because the ph is low. i seen one kind at the lfs store and it was made by seeachem and said 8.3 stable. on the back it also said that even if u overdose it wont go over 8.3 or something. is this true ???

i also would like to ask if another kind of buffer would be recommended like ph up or down??

I like and use the Seachem Marine Buffer.
I would hesitate to say your pH will NEVER go over 8.3 if you overdose anything. But I suppose Seachem has fully tested this, and would not mention it if not somewhat true. I would imagine their marketing department guys would jump all over this benefit.
I am a little more skeptical, and avoid overdosing anything. Half doses to begin with, check levels by testing, then adjust accordingly.
pH up and pH down.
Well I've used these in my freshwater tanks, but do not in my saltwater. Basically adding a liquid acid or base to the water and I'm not so sure that is the best way to adjust pH in marine aquariums. I would prefer doing a water changes to lower pH, and do add a store bought marine buffer to raise and help maintain it.

You also need to check your alk. This product will raise it- and go over the normal level.
