Oh yeah, a lot of people are buying IO and mixing it 50/50 with Oceanic, it gives an almost perfect reading of, pH, alk and Ca. If you have the money to do that, then that is probably your best option.

That sounds like a good idea I guess. I only have 1 mushroom so I don't have anything to check really. Well I have a kents Ph buffer - wouldn't that lower calcium or am I know correct about that? Would it be better to get the alk buffer?
Maybe just try the salt like you suggested. Very strange I guess.

ok all - Suggestions needed
After water change today (my new water cycled for 24 hours) here are the parameters
Salinity 1.026
PH 8.0
trites 0
trates 0
ammonia 0
dKH 11.2
Calcium 580
Ok so now my dKH is on the high end right?? So what should I do? Should I use the Ken'ts buffer? That would raise my PH and lower my dKH and my calcium right?

Do I just leave it alone.
This seems nuts.

you are still in okay range,
Honestly don't obsess, especially if you are testing right after a water change, wait a few days and test again.
You will drive yourself crazy if you try to keep your levels at an exact place, each tank reaches its own equilibrium, you do more harm by constantly messing with it.
Wait a few days test again and see where your levels are. There is also a certain amount of error in the test kits we use so keep that in mind also, if a point or two is driving you crazy.

Ok I just had read on another thread about calcium snow and I got worried. I never saw anything that said how high the calcium and dKH had to be before you got snow. I just don't want to loose my stuff.
Ok no buffer.
