My pH level won't get past 8.0 even though I use a buffer, It does the same thing in my mixing tank. Is there something wrong with my buffer I use Kent Superbuffer dkh.

definitely try a different test kit. I use Kent super buffer dKh all the time, and my pH is constantly 8.4. I like that buffer a lot.

Yeah....try a different test kit....unless someone's been secretly pouring an acid into your tank while you're sleeping...:D

you might have to try dosing pickling lime. buffer is good for maintaining pH, not so good at raising.
please read how to dose pickling lime before you proceed with it.

I now have it up to 8.2. Could it be caused by my Poly filter, I think I remember reading something on the package that it lowers pH? Could it also be caused be too many fish-snowflake eel, niger triggerfish, 2 percs,1 firefish, 1 4 line wrasse, and then i have the fish I'm getting rid of squriellfish and 2 damsels- all are still babies.

I read on my polyfilter that when it gets too old it somehow lowers the pH so I replaced it and now it is fine.
