ok , I use ro/di water that I make myself for water changes and for (top off water daily). 1st Question : do I need to buffer the daily topoff water?? If so Could I use baking soda to raise the PH? 2nd Question : will my synthetic sea salt mix automatically buffer my PH of the ro/di water to a PH of between 8.0-8.5 or should I still buffer it before mixing the water for water changes?? :help:

Best honest answer to give is are you testing for your PH? If not why buffer or add anything without testing......Sounds wierd that you'd be having major PH swings that you'd need to buffer daily..... :notsure:

Yes i have been testing my ph and i find it a bit low, Im not buffering daily it was a question concerning the need to buffer, IE if the rodi water that I use daily for topoffs has a low ph should i buffer it? The other q I had was will the salt mix raise the ph of that water or not? Currently I dont have any made up to test that Question. THanks

1. No. The GH minerals do not evaperate from the tank water, only the H2O so you just add back the H2o that evaperated. Pure water should have a pH of near 7.
2. A good salt mix, mix and airiated 24 hrs should have good GH levels to have/maintain a good pH. Everyone should test it after mixing and befor adding....Buff if needed or use a better brand.

Ro water has a really low ph, mine below 7. As DogStar says everything should be left behind from the salt evaporation & your salt mix should get your ph high enough even if your RO water is really acidic.
