I noticed a while ago my ph and alk dropped low (7.8 in the morning 8.0 at the end of the day, dkh 8) so ive been adding a ph buffer to bring it up slowly it is now at the point where it is 11dkh and 8.3 at the end of the light cycle but in the morning it still stays at 7.8. Is this normal or should it be higher in the morning?

I'm not sure why, but I think its common for PH to drop at night like that. .1 or .2 drop and raise sounds pretty natural to me..

It's not uncommon to see your PH drop after lights out.....Again that number we all see and strive for 8.3 is a set point. A tank can run perfectly fine at 8.0, 8.1 or what not......Adding PH buffer can cause other affects driving other parameters out of whack, so use with caution......
You might try setting up a fuge running the fuge light on a reverse light cycle from the DT, also run a line from your skimmer to the outside might also influence your PH. Try opening a window and see how that affects the PH of the system as well.....There's numerous things, that can be done to isolate if you truly have an issue......

These readings are typical I agree.

Oh and take your readings at the same time in the morning and at night to get the best picture of what is going on with the PH, for real. :p

Sounds fine to me. Just make sure you don't have detritus gathering anywhere of have any clogged mechanical filtration.
