What type of water are you using? What brand salt Mix?
I had an issue due to the water PH was high to begin with ,and the salt mix gave it a higher PH on top of that. i have since changed the water I use and switched to Instant Ocean, and have not had a problem since...

Hi there,
Can I ask how you change/top up water? Is it RO water? Do you leave it out for 24 hours?
It is best not to use pH buffers, although I have used them with varying success, it isnt good if you have anything alive in there. In theorem, by mixing salt with water, leaving it in a QT or or something for 24 hours to mix and what have you, it should naturally change that salts' pH to 8.2
All the best,
Tim

hmmmmmmmmmmmm.........
something is wrong with your reading. Alk is low and PH is high.
Can you trust your test kits? Did you read right?
I'm asking this because it's usually vice versa: Alk is low and PH is low.
Couple of questions.
1. What is your water source?
2. What salt do you use?
3. How do you mix it? Do you aerate the water for at least half a day and do you add buffers to it?
4. What other additives do you use?
These questions can help me to help you.
