this is the first time I have seen my ph too high, as in 8.8
last night I was too low and must have placed too much buffer increase in.
So now what is the best way to lower it ?
nothing in the tank except live rock roght now

If you buffered within 24 hours, it can cause really screwy pH readings. I would give it some time to settle. This is assuming you followed the instructions on the jar and didn't over buffer. Buffer should be added slowly, though some brands can be added for 3-4 days in a row assuming you are following the dosing instructions.

Hi,
My PH was runing 7.7 constantly so I just added buffer too..
I added 1 tsp in some of my salt water in a jar for each 10 gallons... it is climbing up..... If you added too much then just do a water change.. you dont have fish to worry about so..... watch it for 48 hrs then if it doesnt go down... do a water change..
Hope this helps, Kim
