Phosban Reactor

I was looking at getting a Phosban Reactor, to take care of the occasional phosphate problem. The info at the online store says you need to get an appropriate sized pump... what kind would I need exactly? It says I need a 80gph pump. Like a small maxijet or rio or something?

Says 80 gph but I just bought one and had to use a rio 800 on it before I got the desired result. That is a little over 200 gph if I'm correct and it just does the job wide open. From my personal experience, I wouldn't go any less than that.

I have a 20 gallon tank for a sump and hang the reactor on the side of it, and I plumbed the rio with 1/2 inch threaded tubing. Not the snuggest fit you could ever hope for but with that little bit of flow, it's not a problem staying connected at all.

I see a Rio 600, rated at 200 gph, is that what you are using? Where do you get 1/2" threaded tubing?

I have a Maxijet 400. It's rated at 106 gph. The Phosban Reactor comes with a valve that you can reduce the flow. The P Reactor, valve, and Maxijet accept 1/2" flex tube.
I can open the valve fully if my PR is half full. If it is full, the media just flow right into my tank. My pump sits about 6" below the reactor.

Yes. I get the tubing from a place I go to to get stuff for my boat...Boat U.S. But I'm sure any hardware store, Home Depot. Lowe's should have some.
