Yes,
I do and I believe it works well. However I use it ONLY short term. In conjunction with GFO, granular ferrous oxide. I run the phosgaurd twice every time I change my GFO. Just exactly as it states on the package. I'll run it for 5 days, replace it and run it again, then remove it and run rowaphos for long term. Just how I do it....

My 135 is very stable. I don't think the phosgaurd actually effects PH. The dust ids not very kind to corals though from what I understand. However I rinse well as the directions state.
Granular ferrous oxide comes by many names, phosban, rowaphos are the two that come to mind. These are best ran in a fluidized bed filter(phosban reactor) with very slow flow rate though it. But can be placed in any compartment in a bag, or pantyhose for that matter, where there is a decent flow rate through it.

i put it in a pantyhose and put a knott on it. and i popped it in the back chamber and i used measurements stated in the directions. i used 1/3 of the bottle to treat 30 gallons

You did rinse it correct? Just start researching phosban reactors....as well GFO does similar as the phosgaurd but can be ran long term without the risk of "leaching back"...research granular ferrous oxide....you'll figure it out.

yes i washed the pantyhose good, i then filled it up with the phosphate remover and then i rinsed it for about 30seconds with cold water as directed

while I am no newbee to aquatic keeping (tropical fish) back in the day, marine keeping I am new to as it is a totall different world and while there are a wide variety of products on the market for us marine hobbiest to choose from, it is good that we have a fourm such this one to gain vauable information to help us make a wise purchase. with that said it all comes down to trial and yes somtimes error in order to learn what works and what doesn't in this hobby. Now to give you the heads up from one newbee to another I too use canister filters one is the FLUVAL fx5 and the other is a EHEIM 2236 both of which gives me the ability to use the layering effect with my filter media. Now as to what I use for my "phosphate/silicate control" I use all seachem filter media and water conditioners because it is my belief that when one uses all the products in the same line there is much more success of the products because the a design to interact as well as react with one another to achieve the desier result one is striving for. I have achieved tremendous results with all of seachem products and highly recomend them, plus they offer techinacial support and a educational website that you can go to for informatio and tech support for all their products. I use seachem sea gel as one of my medias to controle my phosphate/silicate and then I enhance this process with chemi-pure elite all of which can remain in my filter for six months before needing to be recharged. Like I said I have achieved optimal water perameters and my fish are healthy
