anyone use Salifert Phosphate eliminator in their tank? if so what are the results or your comments? I use it and it seems to work well for me allows your skimmer to remove the phoshates:)

Hey Plum70rt,
After our chat about phosphates & sponges, I went out and got some phosphorus-zapping stuff. I found Phos-Zorb by Aquarium Pharmeceuticals (Doc Wellfish), which I chose the Phos-Zorb because it was packaged in a little pouch, which was ideal for my set up. I put it into the chamber of my biowheel in place of the mechanical filter/charcoal pad. I left it in for about a week (don't have my log handy) and my phosphates went from rather high (again, no log handy, LOL) to 0.1 .
So that's my story!

I stand corrected. It WAS Phos-Zorb that I used. A friend used PhosGuard, and it worked for him, but I used the Zorb.

do yourself a favor. get a phosban reactor. they're only like $30 and have something like 3 x the efficeincy(sp?) as just placing the mesh bag in your sump. I've had one hooked up for a week and I'm starting to see my hair algae problem go away.

i use a mix of phosgaurd and carbon it works great , i run it 2 days at a time once a week its a must . as far as phos test kits (there 2 types of phosphates that they measure the one that produces algea and stunts coral growth isnt cant be measured because it instantly gets used up by the algea in your tank so you would always get a 0)

Could you put the Phosban in HOT filter instead of carbon?

Do you have a brand name for the phosban reactor? I never heard of one.

two little fishies inc. makes them. I bought mine on the auction site as a package with the powerhead you need. It took about 10 minutes to unbox and get it up and running
