Hello what exactly is a phosphate sponge and where do i get one?
My tank has recently had an outbreak of the neon green algea. It wipes right off the glass. It only covers things it doesn't grow out...atleast not yet. i have a calcium and phos test coming in the mail right now.

It's a white granular substance, looks like carbon but white, you can get it at any lfs that sells marine stuff, usually you load it into a canister filter to get the maximum effect. I've run it before to remove high phosphates that I had in my tap water till I changed to RODI. Just filled the cantainer in my magnum350 and ran it for 4 days, then disconnected the canister till I needed it again. I usually run a phosphate/carbon charge once a month for 2 days from a caniter connected at the sump.
