Ok we used rodi boi water to start the tank. Can phosphates be high do to the cycle ( rich organic wastes from the lr and ls) I tested everything again today and the amm. nitrites are still.25 the nitrates comming down but the phophates were way high. Also the temp is way high from the vho lighting. Since it didn't come with fans can I put one of those clip fans blowing air into the back of the canopy to help cool it off. Thanks

phosphates are very common for new setups. The brown algae bloom consume these and slowly turn to green as phosphates are consumed.

Thanks I don't know if putting a fan on it will really make any of the water evaporate more in her tank because the intire top is pretty silled. I was just wanting the fan to push some of the heat out of the canopy. I was kind of wondering how it was going to get good gas exchange because the tank has the glass top all the way across and then a rubber flap that seems to mold itself over the only 2 power cord that are comming out of the display tank. And the sump underneath has a glass top on it too. But it is an oceanic so I figured they knew what they were doing. Sorry so many ? this is my mother-in-laws tank mine is small and doesnt have all the fancy sump and vho lighting. I'm taking care of it right now for her because she ahd a stroke. So bare with me. Thanks

Sorry to sound stupid but when you say topless do you mean without the canopy or the glass. Right now we have the lights just resting on the glass top with the canopy over them. Thanks

Thanks everybody. I'll try to get my father-in-law to mount the lights to the canopy so we can take the glass off.
