The Canon S2 is awesome, great camera at a very good price. Also look into the Sony H2 for comparison. Stop in at your local digital camera retailer and play with them. Something that reads well might handle horrible for your likes.
ISO sensitivity-Some cameras can't handle higher settings, some can, blah blah. The likelihood(sp?) of you needing a 2000 ISO setting isn't likely. And any of the cameras your looking at will serve your purposes very well I imagine (casual photography, good imaging in natural light, etc).

Everything I have read on the different makes of cameras out there today that give their opinions always say that, "This camera at higher ISO ratings has more noise or purple fringing at the higher ratings". So when you sat the higher the better now I am confused.

The higher the ISO the less light you need to take a picture, but there will be more noise. On higher end cameras there is less, but it is still there. And as far as megapixels, more doesn't equal a better picture. More just means a bigger picture. For example, a 2MP camera can print up to a 4x6 without losing detail while an 8MP can print up to a 16x20.
