I really like mine but man, they can almost bury LR over night! Maybe someone can answer a curiosity question for me. At times mine will come out from under his rock(s) and won’t go back in for a couple of days. I was thinking that it might be the bristle worms in my crush coral causing him problems?? I put an Arrow crab in not long ago in the hopes that it would help control them. :notsure:

I absolutely love thier colouring, reminds me of fresh water kouli loaches.
Over all how big do they get. If I wanted to create a habitat just for them, what would you guys recommend?

Mine are absolutely humongous. On average they are 12-13 inches long and fat fat fat. I would guess 35 gallons and up...only b/c they don't swim alot and like to stay hiding underground...but mine have been very active lately-especially with the installation of a new powerhead. You could probably start them in a 10 gallon considering how small they are-they will reach maturity in a 10 gallon and then can be moved over to a larger tank as needed.

They are awsome, but now you have me scared! I have one & heard they could get big, but yours are huge!Ihave lots of rock, too. If he tumbles it I would cry...

They may dig out all the sand from underneath the live rock so be cognizant of that. Otherwise, arrange your rock accordingly so it doesn't tumble. Good luck-they are great fish with awesome personalities.

Looks good, as of recently my engineer goby is no longer in my tank, but he was approaching a foot. He would build 8" mounds of sand and kill my bioload by stirring up way too much (I didn't plan ahead and eggcrate the bottom at all.
But here's a pic from the gift shop at baltimore aquarium, they have 10-12 huge engineer gobies. Theyre approaching 16" and theyre fat too.
(crappy pic since I had to lean over the cash register to get a quick pic of the tank behind the counter. cashier thought i was nuts)

I got one a few months ago It grows fast. I have about four inches of crushed coral at the bottom of mine . I has only stayed in one corner and hasn't moved It has created an underground tunnel though. Its cool you never know which hole he'll come out of. cool Pics
