I have about 80-90 lbs. of live rock. I plan on pulling a peice out each time I purchase a new peice of coral etc. The tank is about 5 months old now.
Is this much live rock overkill? 75 gal. tank w/tunze protein skimmer in sump underneath. 2-250 watt 10,000k metal halide bulbs.
I have pics of the tank, but am not sure how to add them to this message. I clicked on "image" at the bottom, but it is asking for an http:// and I am trying to pull it from my c: drive.

you can never have to much live rock .. just my opinion but the rock isnt wasteful and is overly benificial

its not the weight of the rock thats important as some rock is more dense then others. you should have enough lr to cover approx. 1/3 of your aquarium. I have 145lbs in my 80. fiji and marshall island. great stuff! ;)

i have a 38 gal moving up to a 75 gal with about 110 lbs lr with plannig on a reef set up so u should be fine. don't take out any rock u want 1 to 1.5 lbs/gal anyway.also that will help with a heavier bio load in your tank. and more room to place your corals when u get them

I have found lots of LR is the key to a suucessful tank. I have a 55-60 lbs of LR in a 29g and it looks amazing. Also its great filtration too!
