Picked Up A 40 Gallon Hex

Hey guys, I picked up a 40 gallon hex tank with a wet/dry hang on the back filter at a garage sale for 20 bucks and I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for the new set up.
Thanks,
ED

Dwarf lion would do well in that set-up, dwarf lion with a large hawkfish for company.
Someone on another post mentioned the Banana Eel doesn't get too large, with adequate filtration (and it sounds like you'll have it) you could do a Banana Eel with a few swimming comrades. May want to research a bit more, as the Banana is one of the few eels I don't have firsthand knowledge of, nor have I researched them much.

Thanks, I think I suggested the same thing minus the eel to you not too long ago for a 30 gallon,
. That does sound like a cool set up though.

what a great deal! since 40 hex does not as much floor space as equivalent rectangular tanks, the potential livestock should not be actively swimming species. if you want to try something different, you can set up a species tank. there are certain eels like banana or viper moray that do not exceed 12". i think this would be an interesting set-up. another option is a seahorse/pipefish tank. since your tank is hex, it'll be perfect for seahorses, which demand some vertical space. of course, this won't work if you're not willing provide live food for them....there are many options...like anglers...etc...you can also set up a peaceful community tank as well....

You suggested the hawkfish, I already had the lion

The more I think about what pufferman said, the more I think you should get an Angler Fin Follower. I've always been interested in anglers, and this way I can live vicariously through you. (I just signed a new lease for a new apartment with a friend, only living there a year, and can only move in two tanks to the space, so I have to downsize or combine).
