i was goning to put my sailfin into it to get a pic but decided it would have been too stressfull to catch him and put him in it and then take him back out again, really just putting him in it for a short period of time wouldnt be that bad since it has about the same water volume as the bag that i brought him home in.i wonder how many people would hunt me down and try to kill me if i did that?

im also thinking about putting a pair of guppies that i have acclimated to sw in it once i get back from the store and make my water movement device, i want to put them in there to get some movement cuz once i get the corals in it it may look good but anything that doesnt move doesnt get my attention, im also going to get a couple small snails once i get to my lfs, as long as nothing swings out of control way to fast to control then ill just scrap it but i think it wont happen that fast
It wasn't wise at all posting about the sw guppies. I did that and I was eaten alive. Check out my 8 gallon biocube diary. Its in there.

i saw that a few days ago but what most people think is that guppys are freshwaterfish, but there not there brackish, so putting them in fresh or salt shortens there lifes equally, plus the ones i have in salt now are 3rd gen salt so there good for being there plus i like how they look and for this tank there isnt many SW fish that i could put in there, if anyone says anything different, ill just put my tang in there for real and see what they say, and then ignore them!!! well i got to go to work now be back laterz

also does anyone think that if i were to put aluminum foil around the plastic part of the MH that it would melt or do damage to anything, because the light is very very bright and it is staring me in the face

well i do have to say when i was measuing for the long peice that holds the light, i measured wrong and it is shorter i think i subtracted in stead of added somewhere, so im thinking the jar needs to go up more towards the light. also how do you tell what color range the light is by looking at it, it looks very white with a small tint of blue in it.

If you really want a fresh water fish for a saltwater aquarium i recomend a black molly or sailfin molly.my brother did a science fair project about that and the molly in saltwater actually lived.
but still the tank (jar)is still pretty small.but Good luck

i would like to do mollies but in that tank they are kind of big for the size of tank and i already have the guppies acclimated to the sw, and both guppies and mollies are brackish and can go both full salt and fresh

Are you sure that is a MH fixture...looks like a Cooper Lighting MV (mercury vapor) light to me. Check on the front, there should be a sticker, and somewhere in it will state Cooper Lighting at the top and then a little further down (MV along with wattage). I would hate to see you try and stick a MH bulb in there if this was not the proper fixture. I am sure that would have some kind of consequences...
