well yesterday i left the light on all day to see how much it would heat up the water, it got it up to about 71*F which means i need to get a heater, so ill see if i cant go get one today.

Have you replaced the bulb in that light fixture? Almost all of those outdoor fixtures are not MH, they're mercury vapor. WAAAY different, but they still look blue. Do NOT place a MH bulb in it until you are sure that it is designed to handle MH. It should have a part# somewhere on it. You can put that into a search engine and pull up details on the fixture. Again, I really think this is a Mercury Vapor system, not MH.

Who died and made you God of everything, I like the kid and the experiment and I say rock on. I am sure we could dig up plenty of things we would all consider stupid about you that you thought were perfectly cool.

This is defiantly a "because I can" project.
Keep the ideas flowing. I have a friend that we always kidded about his 5 minute plan. Every 5 minutes he had a new idea. Well now he is living in a multi-million dollar beach home and retired in his 40s. Some of his ideas came to flourish. :)
