You should go bigger if space permits :happyfish more room for fish and corals just my $.02. you can get a 20G tall or so for around the same price as a 10G if you look and the top of the tank could be the same size to accomidate your lights

i actually currently have a ten gal cycling, and the lights will be here tuesday. 10 gal is the biggest we're allowed to have in the dorms... altho i did hear about somone who had a 55. i just don't know how he fit it in here. lol. i wanted to get a 20, but my mom said if 10 was the biggest we're allowed to have, that was the biggest i could get. but there's absolutely nothing wrong with having a 5 gal tank.

there is no problem with having a smaller tank
However it is harder to keep water parameters stable in a smaller system, but if you are maintaining stable water in the 5 gallon then more power to you :joy: Good luck on the 10G post some pics when you get it up and going!!

thank you!! i have some older ones, i'll have to take some pics tomorrow, after i clean the tank and do a water change
. i'm going to bed now...
and it's actually been insanely easy for me to keep the water conditions stable. i only had one problem over thanksgiving, when maintenance came in and turned my fans off and shut the windows, which is when i lost my xenia (but i didn't really care for them anyways lol). the only thing you have to worry about really is topping off the tank, like every day, sometimes twice a day, but i'm here a lot so it isn't too much of a hassle.
my lights are coming tuesday for the 10 gal! woo hoo!!!
