well the stand is finished, now I have to wait for him to put a gfi plug on the wall.....there are no plugs on that wall....with any luck, maybe he will be in the mood to do it tomorrow,,,,somehow I doubt it.
I cant fill the tank, cause he has to move the tank and stand to get to the wall to put the plugs in....

Stand looks great! At least it's progress, right? I know how you feel. I started my tank back in February and my husband just finished the canopy about 3 weeks ago. I now finally have my MHs up. It took six months but it was worth it.
Look forward to seeing your tank come together. Are you doing a mini-reef?

Ok, I have electricity, the tank has sw, lr, and ls in it...oh, and I did see a little worm swimming around in there....looked kind of like a baby earth worm, so Im not sure if I should have left it in there or not, but ended up leaving it.
I really didn't get to do much...once dh helped me clean the lr, (we all know how squeemish I was about doing it),,,he kind of took over the entire process. I became the gopher, and he did "everything" .... I wasn't very happy about it, but after pushing him all weekend to build the stand and then get the electric done...I really didn't feel I had much of a right to say anything. I am glad he helped me, but I wish he would have at least let me help with putting the LR where I would have liked it to go.....I didnt/dont want to seem un appreciative after all he did do to get everything ready.
I took a couple of pics, you cant see much cause its really cloudy, due to the sand going in there. Im hoping by morning you can see it better.

I still have to get the sand off of the lr, and push the sand around a bit, that much I can see as it starts to clear at the bottom
will keep you posted.,

Im not sure if what I want to do is a mini reef....I want a couple of clown fish, clean up crew,, of course, Just not sure I want crabs in there, a bit later, I want to put some things in there to give the tank color, I know there are many names for the pics of "frags" ive seen on here. So if thats what a "mini reef is" then, YEP, thats what I want to do.

I blew some of the sand off of the LR, and its cloudy again, (not as bad as when we first put the sand in there), when It clears up a bit more, I will take a new pic...so you can see how my "dh" placed my LR....

thanks for looking

just finished testing....
I dont know if this sounds right,,,
but here are the results,
salinity 34 (1.025)
PH 7.8-8.0 (I know this is a bit lower than it should be)
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Amm 0
Temp 78.5 degree's
I started off will freshly made salt water,
22 #'s of Pre-cured live rock, that dh and I scrubbed
and brand new live sand.
Also, the LR came on thursday, and I had it in a tote, with SW and a power head to keep things moving around, till sunday....maybe the spike happened in the tote??
so what do you think....??

Plop a shrimp in there. if you see ammonia you started your cycle. if you don't, then your rock cured in the tank.

i believe ghost feeding is to keep the tank cycled.
you wanna put a shrimp in there so it can decompose and so you can see if you get an ammonia spike.

ghost feeding will also let you know if the tank is cycled because it will cause a spike if your tank isn't cycled.

Ok, I ghost fed the tank, and did not have a spike, tested after feeding and tested again this morning, amm 0, nitri 0, nitra 0, ph 8.0, salinity 32, temp 80.3F
the water is very clear, has some little white specs floating around, I assume thats normal.
tell me what you think.
dh came home with a cleaner shrimp, 3 scarlet hermits, and 4 snails the other day, he didn't know that we should wait, I couldnt return them to the store, as they closed for the night, so I acclimated them and put them in,,,He just wanted to surprise me. He wanted to buy me a mandarin dragonette, but was not sure if I really wanted one, so he decided to wait on it.....Thank God,,,,I know I wouldn't be able to keep it alive in a 24g, so I wont be getting one. He knew I thought they are cool looking. Im just glad he didn't buy it!
anyway, let me know if there is something you feel I need to know,
thanks,
Lori
