You have a major nutrient problem. The red/purple slime is cyano bacteria. That along with the green hair algae in pic one are telling you something is wrong. I would recomend you do some major water change with RO/DI salt water. You should also run some kind of phosphate removing media. The poly sponge worked for me. What are your nitrates, phosphates, and KH testing at. You problem is probably coming from:
1. Using declorinated tap water for top offs and water changes
2. Over feeding or feeding too much flake food that is extrememly high in phosphates.
3. Old light bulbs, when they get old the spectrum switches and fosters algae growth.
4. Low alkalinity (kH) can fuel Cyano.
5. Not enough flow.
6. Not enough water changes
Sorry to say, but if you don't do something quick the Cyano will cover up and kill all your new corals. I am not trying to be negative, just trying to help. I would hate to see you lose your new corals. If I were to guess at what your problem is, I would guess you are using tap water. Nice corals though and good luck with them.

I am currently working on this...Nitrates are 0, phosphates are 1, alk is 2.8, ph 8.2....I have a phosphate sponge ordered, should be here Saturday, I do not use flake food in this tank..it has seahorses, I feed mysis shrimp ( 1 cube in a.m. 1 in p.m.) which I have just currently started rinsing. I just added an airline, and a koralia 1 for flow, (may add more flow) and also am limiting my light. I have been siphoning out the algae as best I can too, and stopped adding all the extra nutrients I thought I was supposed to add.
Pic one is a diff tank, and that the new candy cane is in. I just got new MH lights, I think that is the problem there. I NEVER had any algae in my 225g before the MH lights. I did acclimate them too. I am getting a sponge for this tank too.

I also never had an algae problem until I upgraded to halides. I didn't get cyano but some other "mat" of an algae. I bought a huge cleaner package of hermit crabs and astrea snails... one by one they cleaned out the live rock and water changes took care of it.. but the halides with the more intense light fueled everything right away and my tests came back 0 on everything.
My recommendation is water changes/siphon out what you can and get some clean up crews in there to help you out.
oh, cool corals btw :)

Thanks, I am doing all of that...The cyano is in tghe 54g (no halides) the other algae is in the 225g with the new halides. I just bought a seahare, and FED exp delayed the shipment and it got here dead....I also got a few hermits...so we will see.

In the first group of pictures, I think #4 ("I have no clue") is an Anthellium.
Love the clown goby! Such a charmer.
