Pics of my new 150.

Just wanted to share some pics of my relatively new tank. It's been set up for around 5 months, and is doing fairly well. I've had a few temperature issues that caused a few acros to start bleaching, but most have recovered very well. I have 2-400 watt 14k MH. And one 400 watt 20k HQI. I have a Sequence dart on a closed loop, that hopefully in the near future will be running through an OM eightway. I've got a Mag12 for my return and a turbelle 6080 for added circulation in tank. My protein skimmer is an ASM G2. I've also got around 120 to 130 lbs of live rock in the tank. My list of items to still purchase is as follows.
OM eightway
MRC Dual chamber calcium reactor and kalk reactor
1/4 hp chiller
and eventually change my mogul bulbs over to hqi.
Some projects I am considering in the future are, making a small surge tank out of something like a 5gal bucket and installing a refugium with a dsb that is gravity fed back to the tank.

Purple Monti (used to be the size of my head)

A few other misc. acros that I'm not possitive of the Id.

I would get some regular play sand in there for a natural look ok

i was never a fan of BB tanks, but i must say, yours is looking great! Although a sandbed would look nice;-) and SPS with only 5 months! my tank is 7, maybe i will get that slimer green acro tomorrow :thinking:

and you said that the purple monti used to be the size of your head, was that victum to one of your heating problems?

Looks pretty good i was gonna do a frag tank with a BB but it looks better with sand. It sure does look

without sand and for a tank that size sand can do a lot for it with sand.

I've thought about adding sand, but there are a couple of things holding me back. The biggest for me is that it is an acrylic tank and I don't want to accidentally get a piece of sand in between the mag-float and tank. And as of right now I have around 6000 gph of circulation in my tank, it might look like a giant dust storm when I add sand. I have no polyps for the copperband to eat so he has been great in my reef. He shows no interest in my sps or few lps. My purple monti was inadvertantly broken into many frags when I tried moving it from my old tank to the 150. Montipora is just so very brittle. Since it was so big it crushed under its own weight as soon as I took it out of water. Thanks for looking and the advise. I like the look of a sandbed and will probably be struggling with whether I should put one in or not for as long as I have the tank.

Fishieness, as long as your tank is stable and you've got the proper lighting over your tank, I'd say go for it. Green slimers are pretty hardy, as far as sps go....
When I started my tank I used rock from my 75 and 58 gallon tanks. My tank had coral in it after the first week and I added fish after the first month, at a rate of 1 fish every three weeks, so my tank is basically an extension of my other two tanks that have been set up for several years.
