I threw in a gorilla crab I found in my DT and i added 3 damsels and figured i'd just replace them when he caught them. You can but if I were you I would go to the LFS and spend some money on a 5 gallon tank to house hermits and snails, i.e. food. Hes going to like the live stuff alot better than frozen.
Plus, I mean, that mantis annhilates everything you put in the tank, why would you want to take that away. And when you have friends over theyre going to want to see it
