Don't feel too bad...the shark keepers get the same sort of flack.
BTW, you can find tank raised seahorses for pets...my LFS sells them.

The things that are killing them are humans. THe fact of people catching seahorses from the ocean is the biggest problem. Not just your example but from fish stores, etc. And no, by taking that seahorse into your care you are jeapordising it's existence.

sorry to bring this thread back up..
sandman kewl pics. but the main reason that most will tell you not to get them is that most WC that are available wont turn to prepared foods and willstarve even though they look like they are eating. here is a picture of 2 that I has both died from starvation even though I thought they were eating.
hardasarock you might want to do some research on wild seahorses on a regular basis they are adding new species that it is illegal to capture in the wild because of the endangered status. and yes there are some that are extinct (exact species I dont know) but there are very few thats its legal to collect and then they are governed by many laws and regulations.
