Ocean Journey was purchased by Landry's Inc, and restaurant chain based in Houston, Texas. They own several major restaurant chains and have initiated a few. In addition to the relatively recently acquired Rainforest Cafe chain, they created the "Aquarium" chain coming to a town near you. In Houston, the "flagship" Aquarium restaurant is in a revitalized area known as Kemah, but based on its success, they built a much larger facility in Downtown Houston. The Aquarium restaurant features large, 100,000+g main displays, and several smaller "jewel" systems. The Downtown Houston facility also has an exhibit chain and large shark tank. Based on success with this model, Landry's purchased the "floundering" ha ha Ocean Journey and has planned a revitalization scheme for it.

Yeh I heard they were bankrupt for a while. So they're turning it into a restaurant now??? How are they going to have room for the tigers and other animals... there wasn't much room to have a restaurant there.... I hope they're not removing a bunch of the exhibits it was quite nice... that's kind of sad to hear... :( oh well.

I am not entirely sure but if they had dolphins, they have moved them. The whole thing is not a restaurant, they just have or will have one on site. The exhibit chain will probably not be changed a lot. But the owner of the company likes tigers...he's added some to the downtown Houston facility as well.

LOL dolphins??? noooo they didn't have the set up for that, just fish, they had a really nice rainforest exhibit, it was all steamy and humid it was like what you would think it'd be like to walk in a rainforest. They also had an exhibit of local fish in colorado. I just assumed this "Aquarium" place was in Colorado as the title of the posting says, the Aquarium in Denver. That's nice they're most likely keeping the tigers though. I hope they keep the otters too, they're sooo kyute!!

I think you mean the bright green anemones? These are cold water, Pacific North West anemones and seastars.

Live in Wyoming, Torrington, 80 miles north of Cheyenne. I have been to the Denver aquarium 3 times and would go back again and again. It's too cool. :joy:
