mind your own buisness..... you all are taking things way to harsh.... its not like i was attacking him and i am entitled to my own opinion, i simply stated that his story changed and either he didnt fill us in with all the info or he was a liar, clearly he backed it up and fixed his stated info and also included a link to the actual salt water, therefor theres no problem.... except for telling me i should be careful about what i say, which was a mistake. im free to do what i want and am entitled to say my peace just like everyone else... but saying something that is more like a threat is a no no...

Calling people a liar without the data to back it up is a dangerous precedent.
Anyone....for those who are interested...here's the link for the water at *****. If you catch it right, our was on sale for $7 so it looked like a good deal. Link for Pacific Ocean Water
The company that makes it is Catalina Water and they were kind enough to post the results from their tests for those who'd like to review it.
Regards
Steve

also...... thanks for the link to the water it looks like a pretty good deal from *****, i might be ordering a good mount of that stuff for myself even.... water changes would be a breeze then :jumping:

The Tank looks awesome background and all! I have been using the distilled water from Walmart for my top offs in my new tank. It is .58 a gallon. Anyone else using it ?

~Iuse the bottle stuff also the stuff from the system in front of the store. 39c a gallon but I get weary on how many more people use it. I mean how many times has the R/O filter been used in the store. Is it still filtering at the same capacity.
~The 59c ones are good though.

~This idea of having a way. A way of starting a system this quickly could be
considered perhaps revolutionary. Like BioSpira or something.
~I said it was a theory in progress but obviously this has already been done in the lab. So this may just be as great as
stevertr suggests.

see if the ro unit at your store has a service tag on it. If it has not been serviced in 6 months, do not use it, because you could be putting expensive tap water into your tank

There is one store in my town that has one, and does not have a service tag on it. Even though it would cost me half as much (25 cent a gallon) I just buy distilled water to be sure.

how about a DSB?, or plenum?
without a source of denitrification, your tank will become a nitrate factory very soon.
I'll tell you a secret I learned from one of my LFS owners the other day. Filters, Protein Skimmers, and all the other devices are just money makers that are totally unneccessary!! They just give hobbyists something to do
sounds like your pet shop manager is too stubborn to take to new aquarium technology..the only reason your LFS's tanks are surviving is because he most likely does water changes everyday. if he didnt, theres NO way a small box filter would help with the bioload of a bunch of fish, inverts, corals, etc.
and do you know what a protein skimmer does?, and i guess you arent running one?

I get salt water by the gallon from my fish shop. a buck a gallon. Screw ***** and pet-not-smart! I like how the newbies have to start fights though........
