It is not the light that is on the top of the tank.

A UV sterilizer is a UV bulb that is incased so that water flows around it. The flow is slow enough and the UV harsh enough to kill just about any microorganism in the water. For a FO tank they can be an helpful addition as seen here.

:cheer: WOW! Nice tank! And it's in the dining room, exactly where I'm putting mine. Of course mine will be a wee pit smaller, 125 gal. You have some HUGE fish in there, have you had them long?
