Does anybody have one of these? I am considering ordering one from this site, and possibley a tiger pistol shrimp to go with it. Does this sound like a good match? Also, will the pistol shrimp bother my cleaner shrimp? Thanks!! :happyfish

i have a pink/blue goby that does not go near my pistil shrimp. it does eat pods regularly, and will attack a small shrimp if hungy enough. mine cohabitates with everything but my coral beauty thwaps it with its tail every once in a while, and it will open its mouth and fins at the CB.
the pistol shrimp most likely will burrow under your rock and you'll never see it.

I have one..It doesn't bother ther cleaner shrimp.
It eats anything that gets to the sand level...it likes mysis.
I bought a pistol shrimp at the same time as the pink spotted goby. I had not seen it for 4 weeks and assumed it was dead, then yesterday it darted out from under the rock to grab a piece of food then dissapeared back under the rock.

they are typically carnivores. mine LOVES the seafood mush. I have some larger pods that go through the tank. if one finds its way near my goby's lair, it is eaten rather quickly. when i originally got the goby, i had switched from my 20 gallon to my 75. I had a pistol shrimp in my 75 (went on the rocks) and the second pistol i had wouldnt come out of the pvc fittings.
i wanted to see if the goby/shrimp would pair up so i took apart the pvc fittings and saw my goby bite the shrimp on the back, rip off it's tail, and eat its claws.
Like i said, make sure you put the shrimp in after the goby has eaten.
EDIT: it will eat algae sheets if i put them down near his cave, and it will eat flake/mysis/clam/shrimp/scallop as well.

I just purchased a Blue Gudgeon Goby. He's awesome. They are carnivores, and will tear up some mysis. He even likes the Omega One flake everynow and then. Here is a pic of one.

wow bill that's nuts. Mine will defend it's cave with a flash of the mouth. it's about 4.5" long but i can't see mine eating a firefish. they shouldn't even be near each other water column wise. but, now you have me worried about a jawfish :(

i woke up and found a firefish in his mouth.. the only thing tht was stickout was its head.

yellow watchman's are pretty much the same as all the other shrimp goby's they just look different but pretty much have the same personality. i have a yellow watchman and its so fun to watch him and the pistol shrimp together. If you get one you will have to make sure that they are paired up at the store you can't just get a yellow watchman and then just throw in a pistol shrimp because they might not get along. My yellow watchman defends his cave they are aggressive but only if another fish gets to close he opens his mouth but he doesn't attack. I have a purple firefish also and my yellow watchman pays no attention to it so basically its all on the personality of the fish but in all reality they are fun to watch paired up with a pistol shrimp and don't get all nervous they really aren't that bad i would get one if i was you. they don't venture far from the cave either. good luck if you get one.
