pistol shrimp?

I hear the snapping all day and night but I never see them. I am pretty sure they are pistol shrimps because the snapping is non stop.I heard mantis will only make a snapping sound a few times an hour.Any trick on seeing these things.I sit in front of the tank with a flash light but never see them...

My pistol only snaps occasionally, just once in awhile at night when lights are out.

I have never heard my Tiger Pistol Shrimp snap at all.

I think I saw it......It was red with a white stripe down the middle of its back and had orange claws.Coud not get a pic.It was only around 2"s long.Does it sound like a pistol shrimp?Almost looked like a lobster.

mine is a deep red color,and both of its claws are orange.I got to keep looking.Maybe I will see it again.lol Thanks

I had a brown one that was a hitch hiker, long story you can check out in my previous posts. Only ended up finding it when my snowflake eel flushed him out from his favorite hiding spot.
