Those of you that have a pistol shrimp is it very active? I mean do you ever see it? I bought one today because he was pretty cool looking and hell I haven't seen it since I put it in the tank. I have a yellow watchman goby that I am hoping it will pair with.

You may or may not see it often, depending where it constructs its burrow. I see mine every day working on their burrows. Depending on the species of pistol shrimp it may or may not pair up with a gobi. Some pistol shrimp a solitary critters.

It is best if they are introduced together, but they could still pair up. I had a pistol shrimp and a yasha hase goby, they got seperated, but my tank was small and soon they paired up. The ONLY time I saw the pistol was when it was with the goby (although I heard it all the time). I don't think it felt safe to come out when the lights were on unless it had the fish there to let it know when danger was around.

I just bought another pistol and a watchman goby this time and they paired right away! :jumping: :jumping: This the second set of them in my 125 and it is sweet.
I hope they don't fight I will have to keep a eye on them .

I have a yellow watchman that I added AFTER my pistol shrimp...and they have not paired up that I know of. I have NEVER seen the pistol shrimp since I added him...but I know he's alive cus I can see his fresh burrowing activity if I go into the tank stand and look at the BOTTOM of my sandbed. lol That is the only way I know he is there. I have never heard him snap either...is this odd?
