Here are my pix of the used filters vs new ones. This is after 1 year of service. The picture of the 3 new ones are on the left. The used ones are in the right picture.

Looks like you should have changed them a little sooner. I change mine every 6 months roughly.

I'm thinking it all depends. Eveyones water will be different. As long as your test it monthy and find no problems then it should be alright, most of the good filters are designed to last a year depending on usage. But I'll bet the water flowed better after replacing those filters.

And to think we drink the water unfiltered

I just replaced mine and they looked just as bad. Went a year before changing.
I would think that individual raw water quality and how much you actually make would be a better determining factor than simply time itself for changine filters.

I have a TDS meter and after around 6 months, it is reading around 10 TDS, so time to change.
