Probably b/c it is listed as a roaming anemone. It probably needs a lengthy tank to move around in.
???
I have never seen or heard of this type, but then again I am just a novice. Looks pretty cool, though.

Its a cryptodendrum Adhaesivum (Adhesive or Pizza Anemone) They are considered a more difficult species to maintain and care for. They live in sand only and require MH lighting above 175 watts. The min tank size from the write up I read said 40 gals but this anemone can get up to or over 1 foot in diameter. It has extremly sticky tenticles and is a very proficient opportunistic feeder. Basically anything it touches it will eat. A. Clarkii is one of its natural hosting fish. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the hijack, but on a similar note, why is the pink tip hatian anemone on SWF so cheap? That animal looks so cool but is substantially cheaper than some of the other "standard" anemonies such as the BTA, LTA, and carpets.

They probably split often and can be found in huge numbers.
DO NOT SUPPORT the capture of carpet anemones!
Carpet anenomies do not thrive like other anenomes. A carpet anenome can take 100 years to become a breeder. If one survives that long and is pulled from the reef you haven't just removed one anemone. You have halted procreation of the community of that species.
These anenomes are crutial to the survival of clowns in the wild. Likewise, carpets need clowns to to survive.

They are cheaper because they are a lot of them and they are easy to find.
I always question the anemone and age theory. How do we know anemones live to 100 years old or better? Is there any evidence to support that statment? You cant follow a dna line as a clone of an anemone will have the same as its parent. So who knows whos DNA you are looking at? Just curious as I have a very different opinion about anemones and their life span. Im not totally convienced they live long at all. But thats just MO.
