Plate coral help...

I just got a plate coral from my LFS yesterday and last night it was opened up by the time the lights went out. This morning it was opened when I went to work, but when I came home it was swollen and letting off streams of gunk. Some of the tenticles on the outside are shriveled up. My params are all fine, but I think a bubble anemone hit a powerhead sometime today. The anemone is under a rock so I cannot see the damage, but it is minimal.
My LFS has VHO's and I have MH's, but I put the plate on the bottom of the tank. Some of the tenticles do hit a rock. Don't know if that matters.

OK, My brother just told me that when he got home at 2pm the plate was fully open. When I got home at 3pm it was as I described earlier. There were also anemone chunks from my anemone running into the powerhead. Could these chunks have caused the plate to stress. The plate was fine until this happened. It looks like the anemone is fine also. Just a few tenticles gone.

Hey footbag,
Pick up your plate coral and smell it. If it smells like really bad, dead fish its dying. If it smells just like clean saltwater its fine. I had the same thing happening and after doing a healthy water change and running my protein skimmer/ 24 for a week he was fine. If he is dying take him out right away! He will through your tank into a mini cycle and stress/ kill everything else in your tank.
Later, Jeff
