Plate Coral?

Wow, that's too bad. Maybe it was damaged from shipping and never recovered... If you haven't already removed it you probably shouldn't. People always says that if you leave the skeleton there is a good chance you will get babies since they tend to put off babies if they are about to die.

Well, I just realized something, I got a sick one from the start. It had a huge mound in the middle where the mouth was, and there was a huge gash in it. The LFS turned it around to not show the gash! I think I will try another, but not from my LFS.

I got one 3 days ago. I see it open up at night but it never does during the day. During the day I can see a few small tenticles. At the LFS where I got it is was open under the day lights. Will it soon open during the day? It sucks looking at the skeleton during the day.

I too have a short tentacle that only opens at night, but not as nicely as it used to 3 years ago. And back then it opened during the day for the first 18 months. Any ideas as to why?

Your not supposed to keep them on the rocks. There suppored to sit on the substrate. I guess they can damage themselves.

he is on a flat rock and is very happy, the fish store I got him from is very reputable and they also had him on a rock.
I know what you are saying how every place that sells them recommends sandbed but I have come to learn that it is not mandatory.
Thanks
Jess

Not mandatory, but definately not recommended if you have any sand sifters. A flat rock is just fine.
