always need to know lighting and water parameters and how "old" he is ie how long in your tank.....
If either are off it can stress a coral.

hate to tell you this but it looks to me like he is a goner
the long tentacle plates are more difficult to care for than the short tentacle
but how about those params

Been in tank for 6 months, started to look like this for about a month. 2-55w actinic,2-55 w 10000k.
sal.1.023
ph-8.2
nitrite 0
phosphate .05
ammonia 0
nitrates 40.
I am in process of replacing CC with aragonite. Nitrates have always been high.Bubble coral, anthelia, mhshrooms, gorgonians all are doing great. Thanks

May possibly not be getting enough light. What size is your tank. Since he is on the bottom it is alot harder for him to get light. Plates don't need inordinate amounts of light but a good amount helps....

If that bare spot on the left side of the picture extends inward toward his mouth...he's probably on his way out...sorry :(
Do a search on STN and RTN or plate corals...

Plates do best placed on a fine substrate. Your crushed coral is most likely irratating the the bottom of the plate, causing it to retract, which ends up as stress. As others have said, it's most likely a goner.

Thanks ,I was afraid of that. This weekend I am going to start with putting aragonite on that section ,I almost have all the CC removed from one side and am doing it slowly one side at a time.so it will be on sand soon. Its a 55 gallon so the lights are about 20 " above.
