You got a 75g hex for free?! Did you leak test it? You have to rinse play sand. This is how I cleaned my sand:
-Put the sand in a clean garbage can with high sides.
-Run a hose with good water pressure down to the bottom and turn it on full.
-Let the can fill up and overflow. The smaller/lighter impurities should rise up with the water and fall over the top.
-Make sure the sand is stirred up alot.
-Every once and a while empty as much of the water out as you can.
-Rinse until the water is clear.

I didn't start out with play sand. I started out with LS that was in this turtle tank so I had to rinse it. I'm not sure on the brand tho, sorry. Do a search, I think I remember seeing someone post a brand name of play sand.

Southdown and Old Castle Play Sands are aragonite based and what most prefer. Old Castle makes Kolorscape play sand and can be found at Walmarts, Meijers, and other places. I found mine at a Meijer.
It has been stated that quartz based sands like quikcrete can be used without any negatives but I don't have any experience with them.
